Manchester City vs Olympiakos
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 3 November 2020
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City look to continue their perfect record in the UEFA Champions League as they welcome Olympiacos to the Etihad Stadium.
Last week, Manchester City completed a comprehensive 3-0 drubbing of Marseille to earn 2 wins in 2 games. A win at home to Olympiacos would extend their lead at the top of Group C and they can start rotating the team with more flexibility.
Man City also defeated Sheffield United on the weekend with a 1-0 scoreline which fails to tell the actual story of the game. The return of talisman Kevin De Bruyne was crucial for the team. The Cityzens created an abundance of chances but were denied by the inspired Aaron Ramsdale.
Olympiacos, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of FC Porto last week. A victory versus Marseille on opening day has brought them 3 points out of 6, and any positive result versus Man City would be a bonus. A third-place finish would be the aim for Olympiacos from Group C.
Manchester City vs Olympiakos Head-to-head (h2h)
- Not once have these two sides locked horns in official encounters. However, Pep Guardiola’s men do have a 100% unbeaten record in European fixtures against Greek teams. They also do have a 100% winning record in such games at this venue.
- Pedro Martins’s men have had some success in continental games against English teams. But it needs to be noted that most of those had come against Arsenal, and that too at home.
- Last season, the European campaign of Thrylos came to an end in the Round of 16 of CL, against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Manchester City vs Olympiakos Prediction
Man City sit top of Group C with two wins from two UEFA Champions League group stage games, after a 0-3 away win over Marseille on Matchday 2. With influential midfielder Kevin De Bruyne fully fit once again, Pep Guardiola’s men have shown signs of returning to their best after a slow start to the season domestically. They welcome Olympiacos to Manchester on Matchday 3, with the Greek champions having been beaten away at Porto in their most recent group stage game. Olympiakos lost all three of their away matches in last season’s UEFA Champions League group stage and have already proven themselves to be a far stronger outfit at home once again this season. Man City should have no problems beating Olympiakos here and will also be confident of keeping a third successive clean sheet in all competitions.
