Shakhtar Donetsk vs Real Madrid
Europe – UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 19 October 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium.

Real Madrid enters the second international break of the season on a three-match losing skid, which may be considered a mini-crisis.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team were humiliated by Sheriff Tiraspol and Espanyol in what should have been two simple victories for the Whites the week before. They were held to a 0-0 tie by Villarreal the weekend before in another disappointing effort.

The Italian would be thanking his lucky stars and would be overjoyed that the international break fell during a difficult period for his squad. Those who will be off duty for the next two weeks, as well as the coaching staff, will have plenty of time to recoup and reflect on what went wrong, as well as focus on getting some of the injured players back to full health.

Real Madrid was scheduled to play Athletic Bilbao at the end of October, but the match was postponed due to a slew of national team matches. They will now play in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk before travelling to Barcelona for El Clasico.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Real Madrid Head to head :

  • The 13-time European champions had scored four or more goals in all but two encounters so far, and have scored twice or more in all but one meeting.
  • Shakhtar had remained winless in 18 of their total 23 clashes against other Spanish rivals.
  • In the past five decades, only once have Ancelotti’s men lost against another Ukrainian opponent.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Real Madrid Prediction :

Real Madrid had a rough stretch previous to the international break, with the shock loss to surprise package Sheriff on Matchday 2 being the most notable result, and a loss today would be Los Blancos’ longest winless streak in all competitions in three years. Last time out, Shakhtar drew with Inter and will look to frustrate the Spanish giants here, but Zinedine Zidane’s side – who were granted the weekend off by La Liga – will be fresh heading into this and are predicted to bounce back here, headed by the evergreen Karim Benzema.
